# Free Case Converter for Uppercase, Lowercase, and Title Case

**A case converter changes the capitalization and separators in existing text without rewriting its meaning.** Paste text into this browser tool and convert it to UPPERCASE, lowercase, Sentence case, Title Case, Capitalized Case, aLtErNaTiNg cAsE, InVeRsE CaSe, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, or CONSTANT_CASE.

The converter processes text in your browser. It does not upload or save the text, and no account is required.

To convert text case, paste the source, choose uppercase, lowercase, sentence,
title, or a developer format such as `camelCase` or `snake_case`, then review
and copy the result. This changes capitalization and separators; it does not
rewrite the wording or meaning.

## How to Convert Text Case

1. Paste or type text in the source box.
2. Choose the output format.
3. Review the converted result.
4. Copy the result or download it as a plain-text file.
5. Switch formats without losing the original source.

The source remains unchanged while you compare formats. Character and word totals describe the current source text.

## Supported Case Formats

| Format | Example |
|---|---|
| UPPERCASE | CONVERT THIS TEXT |
| lowercase | convert this text |
| Sentence case | Convert this text. Start another sentence. |
| Title Case | Convert This Text |
| Capitalized Case | Convert This Text |
| aLtErNaTiNg cAsE | cOnVeRt ThIs TeXt |
| InVeRsE CaSe | cONVERT tHIS tEXT |
| camelCase | convertThisText |
| PascalCase | ConvertThisText |
| snake_case | convert_this_text |
| kebab-case | convert-this-text |
| CONSTANT_CASE | CONVERT_THIS_TEXT |

UPPERCASE and lowercase preserve whitespace and punctuation while changing letter case. Developer-oriented formats treat punctuation and whitespace as word boundaries and join the resulting words.

## Uppercase and Lowercase Converter

An uppercase converter changes letters to capital letters. A lowercase converter changes letters to small letters. Numbers, punctuation, line breaks, and spacing remain in place.

These formats are useful when:

- accidental Caps Lock affected a draft;
- a form requires capital letters;
- identifiers need consistent letter case;
- imported text has inconsistent capitalization;
- you need a clean lowercase value before another transformation.

Locale-aware browser methods handle many scripts, but casing rules vary by language and operating environment. Always review names and language-specific characters.

## Sentence Case Converter

Sentence case capitalizes the first letter at the start of the text and after `.`, `!`, or `?`, while converting other letters to lowercase. It preserves the original punctuation and spacing.

This is a mechanical conversion. It cannot reliably identify every abbreviation, proper noun, product name, or acronym. For example, a name written in all capitals may require manual restoration after conversion.

## Title Case Converter

Title Case capitalizes principal words and usually keeps short English articles, coordinating conjunctions, and prepositions lowercase when they appear inside a title. The first and last words are capitalized.

This tool uses a transparent English title-case heuristic with a small-word list. It is not a complete implementation of AP, APA, Chicago, MLA, or another publication style. Style guides disagree about word length, hyphenation, subtitles, and which prepositions should be capitalized, so publication work still needs a style-specific review.

## Capitalized Case and Alternating Case

Capitalized Case makes the first letter of every detected word uppercase. Unlike Title Case, it does not keep small interior words lowercase.

Alternating case switches the case of successive letters while leaving non-letter characters in place. InVeRsE CaSe flips every cased letter: uppercase becomes lowercase and lowercase becomes uppercase. These are visual transformations rather than grammar corrections.

## camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, and kebab-case

Developer-oriented case formats normalize the source into word tokens:

- `camelCase` starts with a lowercase word and capitalizes later words;
- `PascalCase` capitalizes every joined word;
- `snake_case` joins lowercase words with underscores;
- `kebab-case` joins lowercase words with hyphens;
- `CONSTANT_CASE` joins uppercase words with underscores.

Punctuation and whitespace become boundaries. Existing mixed-case identifiers are not always separable without a dictionary, so review technical names before using the result in code.

## Case Conversion Does Not Rewrite Meaning

A case converter changes presentation, not wording. It does not:

- correct grammar or spelling;
- rewrite sentences;
- verify names or acronyms;
- translate text;
- detect plagiarism or AI-written text;
- apply every editorial style rule;
- guarantee valid programming identifiers;
- recover capitalization that was absent from the source.

Use the [word counter](/free-tools/word-counter) for document totals, the [character counter](/free-tools/character-counter) for length limits, and the [readability checker](/free-tools/readability-checker) for formula-based reading estimates.

## Privacy and Text Handling

The conversion runs locally after the page loads. The page does not send the pasted text to Humanizer PRO, store it in an account, or use it for model training.

Copying uses the browser clipboard when permission is available. Downloading creates a temporary plain-text file in the browser. Your browser or operating system can still retain clipboard and download history according to its own settings.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is this case converter free?

Yes. All 12 formats are free and require no account.

### Does the converter save my text?

No. Text is processed in the current browser tab and is not uploaded or saved by Humanizer PRO.

### What is the difference between Title Case and Capitalized Case?

Title Case keeps selected short English words lowercase inside a title. Capitalized Case makes the first letter of every detected word uppercase.

### Can I convert uppercase to lowercase?

Yes. Paste uppercase text and select lowercase. Punctuation, numbers, whitespace, and line breaks remain in place.

### Does Sentence case preserve proper nouns?

Not reliably. It converts most letters to lowercase before capitalizing sentence starts, so names and acronyms may need manual correction.

### Which title-case style does this use?

It uses a general English title-case heuristic, not a guaranteed AP, APA, Chicago, or MLA implementation.

### Can I use camelCase or snake_case output in code?

You can use it as a starting point, but review reserved words, leading numbers, Unicode support, and naming rules for your programming language.

### Does it work with non-English text?

Uppercase and lowercase use browser locale-aware casing, but Sentence case and Title Case apply English-oriented assumptions. Review non-English results carefully.

## Convert First, Then Review

Choose the format that matches the destination, review names and special terms, and copy only after confirming the result. Capitalization is easy to automate; editorial intent still requires a person.
